Megalithic period (Korea)

Movement · period · 2000 BCE–1000 BCE

Dates. Sarah Nelson’s “Megalithic period”, after Portal: about 2000–1000 BCE, the millennium of dolmens, stone-cist graves and plain (mumun) pottery, for Im Hyo-jae the Late Neolithic1. In today’s chronology of the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture these features already belong to the Bronze Age, which it begins about 1500 BCE with rice farming and plain pottery2 — so this division survives only as the reading of Nelson and Portal.
