飛鳥時代
Movement · period · 552–645
Dates. Here after Mason: it begins in 552 with the official introduction of Buddhism from Paekche (another tradition gives 538) and ends in 645 with the coup that opened the Taika Reform; the years to 710 are the Hakuhō period of art history1. The national institutions date Asuka 592/593–710 and have no Hakuhō period2: it begins in 592, when the court was seated at Asuka (Sushun 5 — its 12th month falls in 593 by the Western calendar), or in 593, when Prince Shōtoku became regent, and ends in 710 with the move of the capital to Heijō-kyō3.
