Jōryaku

承暦

Term · calendar

Japanese era name (承暦) for the years 1077–1080: 1077 is Jōryaku 1 (元年) and Jōryaku 4 is 1080. Jōryaku (承暦) is a Japanese era name (nengō), proclaimed in 1077. Its years are counted in lunar years from the new year before the proclamation: 1077 is Jōryaku 1 (元年), 1080 its last year, Jōryaku 4. A Japanese source dates a year within it as “Jōryaku 2” (承暦2年) rather than by a continuous count. Before: Jōhō. After: Eihō.
