Japanese era name (長保) for the years 999–1003: 999 is Chōhō 1 (元年) and Chōhō 5 is 1003. Chōhō (長保) is a Japanese era name (nengō), proclaimed in 999. Its years are counted in lunar years from the new year before the proclamation: 999 is Chōhō 1 (元年), 1003 its last year, Chōhō 5.
