Artwork · Seison Maeda · 1929 · byōbu · Okura Museum of Art
The best-known work of Seison Maeda (1885–1977), who studied Rinpa on Okakura’s advice and copied Gu Kaizhi’s Admonitions in London in 1922: the episode of the Heike monogatari in which Minamoto no Yoritomo and six warriors hide in a mountain cave from the Taira — the armour of the twelfth century carefully studied from old handscrolls, the monumental figures and tarashikomi from Rinpa. 1 Mason 2005, pp. 368–369, fig. 437. ↩ Literatur Mason 2005: Penelope E.
