Nude
Artwork · Hōsui Yamamoto · c. 1880 · painting · The Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu
Painted in Paris by Hōsui Yamamoto (1850–1906), the first Japanese artist to study abroad, a pupil of Jean-Léon Gérôme: technically accomplished and academic in its idealized nude. His greatest contribution to yōga was converting Kuroda Seiki from law to painting. 1 Mason 2005, p. 372, fig. 443. ↩ Literatur Mason 2005: Penelope E.
