Flower vase (mimikuchi)

Artwork · Anonymous · 18th century · vase

A bronze vase for ikebana of the “ear–mouth” type, its handles exaggerated so that one forgets the metal is rigid; bronze had been the material of choice for flower vases since Sōami’s treatise of 1511 (Joe Earle). 1 Mason 2005, pp. 304–305, fig. 351. ↩ Literatur Mason 2005: Penelope E.
